Sent From the Secret Place
Key Scripture
Isaiah 6:8 KJV
“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”
Introduction: The Secret Place Is Preparation
The secret place is not where God hides you forever.
It is where He prepares you.
It is where He heals you.
It is where He strengthens you.
It is where He corrects you.
It is where He matures you.
It is where He teaches you His voice.
It is where He protects the oil.
It is where He forms the yes that can stand under assignment.
God does not just hide us to heal us.
He heals us, strengthens us, covers us, matures us, and sends us with purpose.
But here is the truth: we are not sent from striving.
We are sent from surrender.
1. Before Isaiah Said “Send Me,” He Encountered God
In Isaiah 6, before Isaiah said, “Here am I; send me,” he had an encounter with the Lord.
That matters.
He did not send himself.
He did not promote himself.
He did not create an assignment out of ambition.
He responded to God.
The secret place prepares the heart before the assignment meets the public.
Some of us want to be sent before we have been still. We want purpose without process. We want doors without development. We want visibility without surrender.
But God loves us too much for that.
He prepares what He sends.
He deals with the heart first.
He touches the hidden places first.
He matures the motives first.
He strengthens the spirit first.
Because what He sends us into will require more than talent.
It will require obedience, humility, endurance, wisdom, discernment, and continued dependence on Him.
2. Being Sent Is Not About Ego
When God sends a person, it is never about ego.
It is not about proving people wrong.
It is not about being seen.
It is not about building a name for ourselves.
It is not about showing everybody we were called.
Being sent is about obedience.
It is about carrying what God gave us with humility.
It is about representing Him well.
It is about going where He says go, saying what He says say, building what He says build, serving how He says serve, and staying surrendered while we do it.
This word is for sons and daughters of God.
Whether you are called to ministry, family, business, writing, leadership, teaching, intercession, worship, service, entrepreneurship, caregiving, or community work—being sent by God requires a surrendered heart.
You cannot carry God’s purpose in pride and call it obedience.
The secret place keeps us humble.
3. Do Not Leave the Secret Place When the Door Opens
This is important.
Do not leave the secret place just because God opens a door.
Carry the secret place with you.
Some people pray until the opportunity comes, then become too busy for the God who opened it.
But the assignment should never replace intimacy.
The door should never replace the Dweller.
The blessing should never replace the Blesser.
The platform should never replace prayer.
The work should never replace worship.
When God sends you, you will still need the secret place.
You will need it for wisdom.
You will need it for correction.
You will need it for strength.
You will need it for protection.
You will need it to keep your heart clean.
Being sent does not mean you graduate from dependence.
It means you must depend on God even more.
4. Here Am I; Send Me
Isaiah’s response was simple but powerful:
“Here am I; send me.”
That is the posture of surrender.
Not “send me where I want to go.”
Not “send me when it is easy.”
Not “send me where people will clap.”
Not “send me where I feel fully prepared.”
But “Here am I.”
That means God gets access to the yes.
A surrendered yes says:
Lord, I trust You.
Lord, I will obey You.
Lord, I will follow Your timing.
Lord, I will go Your way.
Lord, keep my heart pure.
Lord, send me with wisdom.
Lord, send me with humility.
Lord, send me from the secret place.
Beloved, if God has been healing, strengthening, maturing, and preparing you, do not be surprised when He begins to send you.
But go His way.
Go covered.
Go surrendered.
Go prayerful.
Go humble.
Go with the secret place still burning in your life.
Reflection Questions
✔️ What has God been preparing me for in the secret place?
✔️ Am I willing to be sent God’s way, not just my way?
✔️ What fear rises up when I say, “Here am I; send me”?
✔️ What have I learned about God, myself, and purpose through hidden seasons?
This Week’s Heart Work
Write a “send me” prayer in your journal.
Be honest about your fears, but also write your yes to God.
Ask Him to send you with humility, wisdom, purity, boldness, and obedience.
Declaration
I am sent from the secret place, not from striving. God has healed me, strengthened me, covered me, matured me, and prepared me. Here am I, Lord; send me.
Closing Prayer
Father, in the name of Jesus, thank You for the secret place. Thank You for healing, strengthening, maturing, correcting, and preparing me. I do not want to be sent from striving, pride, pressure, or fear. Send me from surrender. Keep me humble, obedient, discerning, and dependent on You. Here am I, Lord; send me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
